The Cha-shitsu (tea ceremony room) is today an attempt to explore, through the tea ceremony, a Japanese tradition that has sunk into oblivion in today's world. I do not consider the "tea ceremony" merely a traditional art form, but a certain kind of method for the contemplation of today's culture. It can be said that it this a concept that is contrary to that of the structural, formulaic and stereotyped culture that 20th century society cultivated.
I have been creating many "tea-rooms" for more than 10 years. I believe that the very fact that I create tea-rooms is equivalent to the themes of modern design.
